Hilarious

Wow, my dad is happily playing DDR with my mom. He's always been mock scornful of the game - I think he was just intimidated. He's very gamely plowing through the Light 3's right now, though. I'm so proud of him. :'D

Update?!

Heh, looks like this is the first time I've thought of my blog in exactly a year. Poor, neglected thing. Well, some things have changed and some have not. I'm still in school, still looking for another place to relocate to, and still doing internships for too little pay. But on the other hand, I now have a hamster, have found the love of my life, and have discovered the joy of English-language PS2 games. That... pretty much sums things up.

No word yet on whether my drawing has improved with time or not - Brett would say 'yes', but I am doubtful. And don't even ask whether I'm going to get my clay dragon site up and running any time soon. Anyway, it's nice to drop by and see the blog once in a while, even if no one else does.

Here's to another year of non-blogging!

*ninja post*

It is entirely possible to improve at IIDX through practice. Somehow I had forgotten this... But now I think I'm back on track. I'm still quite terrible, but at least it's getting easier to read higher speeds and stuff.

Still looking for a place to live. Still doing my summer internship. And I'm definitely quite grateful that it hasn't been too hot recently. Other that that... yeah. Life goes on.

Oh Em Gee!

Okay, first of all, what the hell is up with Google forcing me to link my Blogger ID with my Google ID? Okay, maybe that's not the question. Maybe it's more like, if they force you to sign up for a Google ID if you don't have one, then why the hell are they still giving me 5000000 invites to send to people. Think you've taken over the world enough yet, guys? D: Anyway, I feel encroached upon. Especially because I was immediately dumped into 'compose' view instead of 'edit html' view, so I couldn't figure out what had happened to all my pre-post HTML. Lame.

So anyway, the point of this post. I had the greatest idea while walking to CMU today (missed the bus by 20 seconds, but didn't mind walking because it's so beautiful out today - mid 30's all week, baby!). I was thinking about how I don't draw my characters often enough, and that it would be fun to do something out of character with them. So of course my mind jumps to feudal Japan because I'm a freak like that, and there's the typical idea of sticking Jesper in a kimono or something because he's all girly like that... But, no, that was boring. Wouldn't it be more amusing to go the whole nine yards and dress everyone up in something completely at odds with their personality?

So here is my epic project that I would love to do, but probably never will. It would be a 'now' and 'five seconds later' set of dual pictures. The first would have Jesper dressed as a samurai (he's so not proficient with weapons), Thraxxin as a geisha (oh yeah, my dark elf assassin would just love that), Seska as a grumpy old Mama-san, armed with a slipper to whack people with ('cause he's the youngest and all xD), and Fury as an onmyouji (what better to dress my demon as than a Japanese priest armed with spirit warding seals?). They'd all have to look very uh, in-character... at least in terms of the parts that they're playing. The second picture would be the five seconds later dealio - when they stop smiling for the camera and are allowed to go back to their normal selves. Fury would be dropping the seals, fingers burnt. Seska would be tossing away his useless slipper and making a grab for Jesper's sword. Jesper would be trying to hang onto it by the blade and slicing his hands up (aw, poor guy D:), and Thraxxin would be in the middle of getting out of his kimono and arming himself with his hair ornaments.

Wouldn't be the best thing ever? Or am I just crazy? Maybe I should get back to my programming - all this fresh air is making me loopy. xD

I am Dumb

I was putting my Target giftcard into my wallet today, when I made a startling discovery. I totally have unused Best Buy and Kohl's giftcards in my wallet, presumeably from last Christmas. Man, this is so bad of me. I should stop putting things in there and forgetting about them. D:

I wonder if there's an easily accessible Kohl's around here...

Oh yeah, did I mention that I'm in Pittsburgh? School started last week~~ Heh, and it's moving a bit slowly. Maybe I'll change my mind on that verdict when I actually sit down and start working on my problem sets. D;

More information to come later?

Hair Today, Gone Tomorrow

I finally got fed up with how long and hideous my hair was, so I got it cut today. Now there's very little left, and it's layered and fluffy and thin! I've never had such thinned hair before - it was actually really terrifying to watch the guy sweep up everything that had been cut off. I think one could have made a small rug out of the trimmings. I'm glad that things went so well this time, compared to the minor disaster of last year's haircut adventure. I attribute the success to my improved Japanese skills and the foresight to bring a reference picture with me. It was decently priced too, because I went to this classy place that was having a 30% off promotion.

Anyway, I think the result is cute, although it's even cuter when it's properly styled and curled. People are going to be surprised when I get back home... <3

And you know, I'm flying back to the States this Wednesday. Haven't started packing yet. :/

Material Girl?

I found the most amazing clothing store today. Everything in there was so vibrant and colorful - patched together and with random pieces hanging off and extraneous strings, and the colors colors colors.... Awesome Japanese street fashion. I got a bit worried when I couldn't find price tags on anything though. Well, I eventually found them, but they were rather well hidden, and augh! I really had my eye on this one red skirt, but I refused to pay over $100 for it.

Man, that place was cool though. If you ever happen to be in the underground mall at Kyoto station, over in the Cube, headed toward Isetan, you should definitely check the place out. It's really quite a sight to behold. I wanna work there someday. ;__;
