This weekend is MIT's Campus Preview Weekend, in which many many prefrosh come and invade our school. I can't believe it's already been a year since I came for CPW. Time sure flies... Apparently a record number of prefrosh are descending upon MIT this year - about 900 I think. That's shocking - I think there were only 600 or 700 last year. So Amy and I signed up to host prefrosh - we figured we'd have enough space to house two people in our room for the weekend. Unfortunately, the online forms that we filled out were not received the the CPW staff, so we didn't ever hear back from them. I got word of a mandatory meeting that all hosts had to attend, and got an email address from that. Well, I emailed the people at that address and asked them what happened. Someone wrote back and explained that since they had never received my form, I wasn't in their database, and I would not be hosting. Then, someone else emailed me and told me that since there were some prefrosh who signed up late, I'd be hosting one of them. The same thing happened to Amy. The meeting was tonight (er, technically last night, but whatever...) and I went for both myself and for Amy since she had orchestra. When I went to pick up the info sheets on who we'd be hosting, I was surprised to receive not two, but three sheets. So now we appear to be hosting three people. To make matters worse, one of them needs a cot because she's not bringing a sleeping bag. Absurd! I hope everything fits - I hope I can pawn one off to Janet since she didn't get a prefrosh, and she was expecting one... Well, it will be interesting to see how this turns out...
Oh yeah, I went to the freshman formal on Sunday, and it was lots of fun! My prom dress even got some useage, which is always good. :P Heh, while Janet gambled (with fake money), Vikki took a nap, and I doodled on my Hitchhiker's Guide which was in my purse.... So sad. Still had a good time though. ^_^ The Logs sounded great - Julie, I'm sure they're better than the Heightsmen! :P
And for the anime note of the day: The D.N.Angel anime has started airing in Japan!!! *bounces around the room in a happy daze* I got ahold of the first episode today, and while I was disappointed that the opening song didn't play (I was looking forward to that too!), I still enjoyed it. A few things surprised me - most notably that the story is set in a very European-looking city. Thinking back to the manga, that was the same, but it just wasn't as noticible. It sure stuck out in the anime - I think it looked a little strange. *shrugs* But, aaaah! Dark is so hot! Wah, I love that part when Daisuke first turns into Dark..... *hides Zelgadis in the back of her closet* I wish I could draw him, but his hair's too messy. :D Okay, too much excitement. Must sleep...
Oh wait, wait, one more thing to say. If you haven't seen Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind, you really should. It's a film by Hayao Miyazaki (the guy who did Princess Mononoke and Spirited Away) and it is excellent. Go watch it, it's so good!! *gets overly hyper and passes out on the floor*
